Acute/ Corrective Care Chiropractic is a completely different approach to achieving and maintaining optimal health. A Corrective Care Chiropractor will evaluate the Nervous System and Spinal Column evaluating the person for not only trauma and pathology, but more importantly for function. Since our Central Nervous System controls all joints, tissues, organs and glands of the body, we need it to function as close to 100% as possible. When we see a patient for the first time at Whole Health Chiropractic in Colorado Springs we always let them know there are two basic forms of chiropractic care. One being Relief Care, which is pain control, and the other is Corrective Care, which works on the underlying structural abnormalities (correcting the cause and/or injury not just treating the Symptom) to make a more permanent change. It’s likened to orthodontics.

Although all Colorado Springs Chiropractors are able to give relief care, the Corrective Care doctor will search for the real cause, and design a specific plan of care for each patient based on the severity of their pain, injury, structural deviations in their spine, length of time they’ve had the problem, degeneration/arthritis in the spine, disc damage or herniation, and any pathology present in the body.

The Corrective Care adjustment and alignment process is similar to what an Orthodontist does to teeth. In time, our procedure may often correct the structural problems and spinal misalignments, thus stopping, or at least slowing down the degenerative decay in the spine (arthritis) and freeing the nerve flow. This often requires a series of visits to our Colorado Springs clinic over a period of time. It will not require bracing the spine, but instead giving very specific Chiropractic adjustments.

Massage is a general term for pressing and manipulating your skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Massage may range from light stroking to deep pressure. Studies have found massage may also be helpful for: Anxiety, Digestive disorders, Fibromyalgia, Headaches, Insomnia related to stress, Low back pain, Myofascial pain syndrome, Nerve pain, Soft tissue strains or injuries, Sports injuries, Upper back and neck pain.

There are many different types of massage, including these common types:

Swedish massage. This is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping. It helps you feel relaxed and energized.

Deep massage. This massage technique uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It's commonly used to help with muscle damage from injuries. Can be uncomfortable at times.

Sports massage. This is similar to Swedish massage, but it's geared toward people involved in sport activities to help prevent or treat injuries.

Trigger point massage. This massage focuses on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse. Sustained Pressure to release "Knots".

Pin and stretch: Is a method of stretching involving shortening the muscle length by pinning the muscle, then taking the muscle through the full range of motion.

Stretching and Mobility: Stretching refers to a muscle's ability to lengthen, whereas mobility refers to the ability of a joint to move through its full range of motion without restriction or discomfort..

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A MASSAGE.
Before a massage therapy session starts, I will ask you about any symptoms, your medical history and what you're hoping to get out of massage. I will explain the kind of massage and techniques I will be using.

In a typical massage therapy session, you undress or wear loose-fitting clothing. Undress only to the point that you're comfortable. You generally lie on a table and cover yourself with a sheet. and blanket. I will leave the room when you undress before the massage and when you dress after it. I will perform an evaluation through touch to locate painful or tense areas and to determine how much pressure to apply.

I will use oil or lotion to reduce friction on your skin. Let me know if you might be allergic to any ingredients. Please provided it on you Intake form.

A massage session may last from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the type of massage and how much time you have. No matter what kind of massage you choose, you should feel calm and relaxed during and after your massage. Breathe normally throughout your massage. Ill give you ques if necessary.

I will play music during your massage or talk to you, but you can tell him or her if you prefer quiet. (I will be Providing education and information about my findings throughout the massage)

If I am pressing too hard or little, ask for lighter/deeper pressure. Occasionally you may have a sensitive spot in a muscle that feels like a knot. It's likely to be uncomfortable while I massage it out. But if it becomes painful, speak up.

That is all. See you soon.
